preparing for an interview for a senior role

DH has an interview for a 'big job' next week and the recruiter hasn't been terribly helpful on what to expect.
It's a second interview with a shortlist of 4.
He has met the 'panel' before for a different role and wasn't successful.
It was competency based and we were a bit clueless about how to approach that.
So this time around we are determined that he is as well prepped as possible so that he gives himself the best chance.
So apart from reading up on the company , it's market ( which he knows anyway) , their strategy , the panels profiles and any recent articles plus preparing good examples against the likely competencies as well as scenarios for how he would approach certain typical senior challenges - is there anything else ?
TIA

The important thing with a competency-based interview is for your DH to ensure that his answers follow the STAR template - Situation, Task, Actions, Results:

  • Describe a Situation where he applied the competency
  • Explain what the Tasks were
  • What Actions did he take
  • What were the Results

It is important that he talks about it in the first person - "I did this", not "we did this". It is also important to talk about a specific situation that actually happened otherwise it may sound like he is talking about a hypothetical situation, which isn't what the interviewers want.

Thanks so much for your reply - that's all spot on and very consistent with the feedback he got last time as we didn't read up beforehand.
Trouble is we don't actually know for sure they will use the same style this time - but hopefully he will be ready for anything !
