Any translators out there?

Probably a bit of a long shot but I was wondering if there are any translators out there. I am thinking about setting myself up freelance, but not sure of best way to do this. Any info from any of you would be great. Thanks.

tt1 - I have a friend who is a Welsh/English translator. When I see her tomorrow I can ask if there's a professional body (iyswim) if you like?

I have done "odds and sods" for people. What languages do you have? I can do French, German, Romanian and Polish or Dutch at a push if you fancy pooling resources! But only into English.

Tanzie, I do French, Polish and Spanish. I am qualified and experienced, but have been doing other things, so don't know where to get clients or how much to charge these days! How much do you do?

You could try a languges recruitment agency like Corinium in Cirencester. They seem to be recruiting regularly for translators.

tt1 - I asked my friend. Apart from the Welsh one, she said that there's an ITI organisation -the Institute of Translators/Interpreters. Good luck!

I did do some work but found it a bit boring and became a teacher instead. Try the web and look for local agencies. I do Russian and French - and would also be up for pooling resources. I mainly interpret now but let me know how you get on. Some of my friends work in this in London. I'll ask about.
