New work from home job for third party - expenses allowance help needed

Hi, I've applied for an admin job and been shortlisted. Its a new role for a charity, they've never had anyone paid before (so are a bit in the dark as am I!). Its also work from home.

They've asked for my £ per hour expectation, but as its work from home I need to factor in phone calls, printer ink, paper etc. How do I calculate an allowance? Any advice welcomed, thank you.

Couldn't you say what your hourly rate is, exclusive of expenses.

Then you can organise yourself with an unlimited calls package and produce receipts for printer ink and so on?

Thank you. Unfortunately our telecoms provider doesn't offer unlimited calls and as it will be our home phone it would be too expensive to go onto a business package. The printer I will be using is my own that I already use for my own stuff, so harder to bill for ink. I think I will have to do it the longwinded way and itemise every call, sheet of paper etc. I was hoping there may have been an easier way! Thanks again.

You could get a separate printer for work use, they are dirt cheap now, if you have the space.

A mobile with unlimited minutes? Who is your home phone provider?

Wouldn't they just buy you a mobile and pay it?

An organisation I am a member of worked out a day rate to salary comparison. If you tell me the sort of salary you want I can look up what they feel that a freelancer should charge per day for the equivalent work.

Actually sorry I just realised that won't work cause you will be employed so will get holidays and sick pay so it's not really the same at all.
Sorry.
