Work related stress with other MH issues

Sorry if this comes out as a bit of a blur.

I have Borderline Personality Disorder. This is usually quite stable with medication but it flairs up more when I'm tired, stressed etc. It means I have to put extra effort into making my mood stable throughout the day and therefore crumble most nights.

We're going through some changes at work. We are given tasks (on top of our own work) and told how to do them but then we are suddenly told to do them another way. This is getting really stressful and I'm under constant pressure to make sure my boss doesn't blow up.

Now, the question.
With all this, can I still get signed off with work related stress? If so, what are the consequences (we're on the Bradford Index system and my score is already quite high) and do I have any other options?

Thank you for reading this, trying not to drip feed but it's hard.

Not sure I understand what you mean by "can I still get signed off with work-related stress"? There's not a question of being 'allowed', if that's what you mean? You go and talk to your GP, and if he/she feels you are not fit for work, he/she will give you a fit note, saying either not fit at all or fit for adjusted duties or something. If he/she thinks you are suffering from work-related stress he/she may put that down. It's not a question of "can I".

In terms of the consequences, you need to check your sickness absence policy. If you are on the Bradford system, and if there are triggers for disciplinaries or similar, then these should be adjusted for sickness absence relating to a disability. No idea whether your BPD counts as a disability or not, but that might be relevant.
