As it stands, my current contract ends on the 31st December. My manager is currently trying to make it permanent which is all well and good but I don't want to stay here. It's not just the job but I don't want to live in my current town at all.

I have family abroad and due to a lot of stress at home and ex-relationships, i want a fresh start abroad and to take experience new things. I can stay with my brother abroad but I don't know if he'll take me in without a job.

Would I be mad to go without a job? If they don't renew my contact then i feel i have nothing to lose, but i don't know if leaving a permanent job to go somewhere abroad with no job is just silly but i want to do it so bad.

Any advice/suggestions? Sorry if wrong place to post.

Depends whether you can afford it, if the sort of work you'd be looking for/happy to do would be hard or easy to come by, and what other responsibilities you have (debt to be paying off, kids to support etc?). But it's not automatically mad if you're free enough to be able to do it!

Maybe a good starting point would be chatting it through with your brother about whether he's be happy to house while you find your feet?

He said I can stay there but I don't know if he would be okay having me without a job!

I don't have any savings really. I could save a few grand before I went to keep me going. I have no children and no responsibilities really. The only bills i have are my phone, gym membership etc - nothing serious. I'm so unhappy in life at the moment I'm eager to get out there and take the risk. I would be prepared to do pretty much any job until the right one came up. Usually htere are plenty in my field of work but there isn't at the moment.

He said I can stay there but I don't know if he would be okay having me without a job! Well, ask him?

At the start of my career I shared a flat with a friend. Another friend asked whether he could use our flat as a base, until he finds a job, for a maximum of three months. He offered to clean and cook for us in return, and promised to get out as soon as he gets the job (or after three months, if not). It was just bliss, we were so sad to see him go in about 5 weeks! He kept our flat immaculate and always made an effort to be helpful, and not intrusive. It can work if you're responsible, but you can't stay with your brother indefinitely - have a Plan B in case things don't go to plan.
