Bloody hell I have a second interview!

Has an interview yesterday, the second one in more than eight years! Did not feel it went that well. I answered as well as I could but went a bit blank, did not feel it went well at all though, no dialogue, feedback questions. I just felt they were going through the motions.
I was not too disappointed though since my expectations were low and it took me ages ( more than 2 hours) to get there and was v stressful ( they also told me it was four hours a day! So you can imagine!)

However just had a call to say second interview via telephone on Monday! Excited now! It's going to be hard! I think it's because I did not speak a second language well in the interview and they want to check it ( interview in second language!) and in fact it's crap but I will try to wing it!

So just to share really, I am keeping it quiet in real life but it would be amazing! And to say getting interviews after a long break is possible.

Wish me luck!

Hi Humphries - that's fab news, I bet you are pleased to get through to the 2nd interview stage. A great achievement that they want to see you again. All the very best.

Did they say what the 2nd interview will entail? Is it to talk with someone you will need to work closely with? Did they give any clues as to why they need another interview?

So are you saying it will take you 2 hours to commute there? Is that a concern?

sorry not "see you", but talk to you via the telephone interview.

Yes they have given me some idea about the second interview and it sounds like my second language was not up to scratch ( I was crap in the interview) and they want to test it. I am usually much better on the telephone though, and I have time to prepare so fingers crossed.

The two hour commute would be a probelm but I can drive which will be around 30 minutes so much better. I was just hoping that I could use public transport though. It should be fine. When the interview went badly I just focused on the journey time in order to not feel too down about it all.

I remember going for a job at Renault years ago and they tested me on my French - I was utter crap, so I feel your pain! In the interview I just went dry-mouthed and couldn't remember anything.

Could you give yourself a crash-course in your 2nd language over the weekend - reading, going online and doing a quick course to get back into the zone, so that on Monday, you'll feel a lot more fluent. Also remember that sometimes being confronted by someone staring at you when you are talking can be unnerving.

So hopefully on Monday, as its over the phone, maybe you'll be able to rattle off a few impressive sentences Smile . Then if you get the job, try to keep in touch with the language as much as possible!

Thanks daisychain,
Yes already on full practice alert, have emailed my French friend with a list of sentences and vocabulary and she has already replied. I will get in full practice tomorrow.
Have plenty of time to practice for Monday.
