When to disclose a medical condition?

I am applying for a new job, I have a medical condition and I require a day off every month for medical treatment as unfortunately I cannot have the treatment at the weekend as the hospital ward I attend is only open during the week.

I have had the condition since childhood, it is well managed, I am fit, healthy and not prone to illness (par this medical condition) but I am worried that I will be a less attractive candidate because of the need for time off work.

Can someone advise me when during the interview process is the best time to disclose a medical condition?

I don't think I would raise it in the interview - you can disclose disabilities prior to interview (as you might need appropriate adjustments to make it possible to attend) but this doesn't fall into that category of course.

If you are offered the job (fingers crossed) I would raise it then, probably with a proposal as to how to make it work. I'm assuming the job isn't one that requires very set hours, like a teacher? With, say, 8 hours to make up over 19 or so working days in the month I wouldn't be particularly concerned as your boss about the one day out, and anyway once Jeremy Hunt achieves his 7 day NHS of course you will be able to visit the ward at the weekend, ho ho ho.

Good luck with the application!
