freelancers - how many hours is a 'day'?

I am just working for a new client who wants to pay daily rates rather than a fee for a job

but I have done a couple of hours here, a couple there, four here, one at home etc etc

if I add them up, how many make up a day d'ya reckon? 8? 7? 19?

8

opinionsrus · 27/11/2006 15:31

7 hours, is a normal full time day.

opinionsrus · 27/11/2006 15:31

8 hours minus one hour unpaid for lunch.

aDadOnMumsnet · 27/11/2006 15:32

7 or 8 as if you worked full time in an office.

obviously a little exaggeration is acceptable IMO.

Cappuccino · 27/11/2006 15:33

it was the lunchhour issue I was wondering about tbh

I work on the basis of 7 hours (8 minus 1 for lunch) although I actually cram my work into school hours.

I work freelance for lots of different organisations. Most of these take a day as being 7.5 hours. One takes it as 7 and another, 8! up until recently though just kind of guessed at how much time I billed for but am now much stricter with myself (I worked out I'd been under billing). I write down the times I do on my outlook calendar to help me tot it up at end of the month.
