Issues with grievance

I wonder if anyone has any advice. I raised a grievance at work and had a lengthy meeting discussing my concerns. The grievance was not upheld but I subsequently discovered that the manager who investigated only chose to investigate a bit of it, not all of it. He is now saying I did not raise issues in our meeting which I absolutely did, but the note-taker and union rep who attended the meeting have both left the company, so there is no corroboration. The notes provided from the meeting have significant gaps and errors. Some colleagues have been interviewed in the process and there are outright lies in their statements.

What do I do? The person who investigated is substantially senior to me and basically the company is taking his word over mine, although I know he is lying. I do not agree the notes are an accurate record of the meeting (and were not provided until well after the conclusion of the investigation) but I am told that it makes no difference.

I've lost my job over this although they are offering me a part-time lower grade job.

I am in a union and have had support but I've only met the union rep once as the one who went through all the early stages which led to the grievance has left the company.

Any advice gratefully received on how to proceed, and thanks in advance.

can you not raise an appeal if you don't agree? i'm not an expert and am starting to go through something similar myself. I am about to take solicitors advice on my situation - don't know if it is worth you doing this or not?

Thank you bilbodog. I will appeal but of course if people are willing to lie through their teeth at the content of a meeting what is one to do?

Good luck with your case, sorry to hear someone else is also going through it.

Did you sign the minutes/notes? How can a conclusion be made without the minutes from the meeting?

Arkengarthdale · 26/08/2015 12:38

I refused to sign the notes as a true record but my written refusal has not been included in the file. They say that the outcome would be no different if I had seen the minutes prior to the investigation Shock
