hello, I am.an employee of bmi and can honestly say its pretty standard if not the most generous in the world. after 26 weeks, you get 6 weeks on 90 percent pay followed by 3 months of enhanced smp and then 3 months basic smp. you can have 9 months paid. im not going back but do not have to pay any back. There is a policy on it, I think if you have the right to ask for it. hope this helps you. overall I have found them a good company to work for and leaving only because we are relocating

Huge thanks Rafa, that's useful info for me to make a decision

Id say that's VERY generous! Does that mean you get 6 months on full pay?!Shock

zara020 · 17/07/2015 20:11

nah just 6 weeks on 90 pecent and then the the rest of the nine months on enhanced smp and smp. the enhanced amount is based on your job role and length of service.

MyChildDoesntNeedSleep · 18/07/2015 00:12

Zara's post says different! Confused

zara020 · 18/07/2015 19:38

errrm no its not. im the same poster and I said the same thing. 9 months paid some benefit but only six weeks of that is 90 percent.

MyChildDoesntNeedSleep · 19/07/2015 18:17

Why the hell am I having this conversation? I couldn't care less about maternity pay.

No need for the 'ermmmm'

Zara was quite clear. 6 weeks full pay, 3 months enhanced SMP and 3 months SMP. In total, 9 months will be paid some kind of benefit, not 9 months full pay.

MyChildDoesntNeedSleep · 19/07/2015 20:29

6 weeks full pay now.

Ok, good luck with it all.

MyChildDoesntNeedSleep · 19/07/2015 20:31

I made a mistake and I got a sarcastic comment. Only commented bc I mistakenly thought someone was lucky enough to have a generous maternity package. Jesus, sorry for misreading.

zara020 · 19/07/2015 21:57

sorry MyChild, youre right it was abit of an unnecessary errrm. ive had a bit of a shitty day and was feeling snappy earlier xx sorry

MyChildDoesntNeedSleep · 19/07/2015 22:06

Thanks Zara, I didn't want to get into a fight! SmileFlowers

SP109 · 19/02/2020 17:43

@zara020 so after 6 months in the organisation you're entitled to those benefits?

Thanks

zara020 · 19/02/2020 19:06

Hi SP , it’s a while ago and I dont work for them now, but from what I remember , you had to have 26 weeks continuous service before the 15th week of pregnancy. Which is fairly standard I think. But the enhancement is unique to BMI. Pretty good employers in that respect. Don’t hold me to it, things might have changed! X

Itsabeautifuldaytosavelives · 23/02/2020 08:26

It might be location dependent. I worked for BMI at the enquiry centre and my mat leave was the standard 6 weeks at 90% and 33 weeks SMP. No enhanced pay.
