If you were nearly 40 and thinking of starting / training for a completely new career, what would you do? Inspire me!

I wish I knew!

Inventory clerk, self employed.

I'm in this position at the moment. I've been looking into nursing, but I know it's meant to be a vocation. Suspect "this seems like a good career path" may not cut it.

I wish i knew too ! I want to leave Nursing and do something completely different, just not sure what ! I guess it depends whether you have financial constraints as many careers require a degre which will need to be funded.

Horticulture? There are some great courses out there and a shortage of those qualified.

What about training as a Dental Therapist? That may be an NHS funded course.

I am in the same boat. I looked at training as an Orthotist, but there are only two courses, each of which too far away.

I will follow this thread with interest for ideas Smile

I'd like to be an occupational therapist. I've thought about it for about five years. It won't be possible to do the training for another two years. But I'm also not sure about leaving work I'm experienced in, can often do from home and am now reasonably paid for to study again and then start over. Bah. Lots of health related training is funded: podiatrist, speech and language therapist etc., so if that's an issue maybe worth checking out?
