My employer is blocking me from raising grievance against a colleague

Hi - I hope someone can help me. I have been trying to raise a grievance against one of my colleagues who has been a complete bully and tried to discredit me behind my back by sending emails (which I have copies of) to my boss that are a complete pack of lies about my performance and behaviour. No facts, just spurious allegations. My employer initially acted on the unfounded allegations without asking for my side of the story and took actions to sack me but failed. Now my employer has done everything to block me from raising this grievance (by saying that it 'isn't a grievance'), and now that colleague is leaving in just a few weeks! (I raised the grievance over 5 months ago) What happens if they leave before my grievance is heard and fully investigated? Does it make a difference to the bully still being in post or not when my grievance is finally heard? I.e. they won't be able to interview her about her bullying behaviour or sanction her for this. Help please - some insight would be much appreciated!

That sounds terrible. The next thing to do is call ACAS for advice. They won't tell you what to do, but can tell you about your rights. Your employer had am obligation to respond to your grievance - do they have a policy or an employee handbook. Check it out and give ACAS a call.
