Solicitors - flexible working/alternatives to private practice

Does anyone have any experience/ideas?
I would like 3/4 day week with fixed hours as I can't bear not to see my child during the week which will be the reality if I return to private practice in big City firm. I am a litigator by trade so looking for alternatives.
I have registered for GLS job alerts and trying in-house ... happy to move out of law entirely to something compatible with my skill set and amendable to flexible working/home working.

Well, I became a PSL.... Better paid than law lecturing and can be more interesting than it sounds IF you find the right firm. Good luck!

thanks everyone. it all happened within a week. I have been interviewing and applying for various things for a month so still, to find something in that time, is amazing. Super happy!!! x

Hi team

May be too late but have sent you a PM with ideas

Sort of jumping onto this thread but: I have recently given up my 15 career as a Claimant PI lawyer with a major UK firm. I wasn't a partner but the level below. We have relocated to a rural area and there is no chance of getting a PI job in a local firm without a massive commute and childcare nightmares PLUS (big plus) I'm not actually sure my heart is in PI anymore, especially post Jackson. Do any of you posting on here have any suggestions as to what work (and I mean 'work' rather than 'career' options) I might consider? Are there organisations who employ ex solicitors to work from home on a part-time basis doing I-don't-know-what? I am starting to feel a bit like a fish out of water and not sure that a SAHM suits me. Youngest DC will be starting pre-school in Sept so I will have more flexibility then, I am just trying to work out what options there might be that I just don't know about. Any tips or advice for converting my career into something that brings in a bit of money would be great.

Have you tried Obelisk? They do in house locum work which may serve areas outside of London. Are there any professional bodies based close to you? Audit type roles as posted in this thread could be worth exploring.

There is NOTHING based close to me (rural south west). And Obelisk don't seem to want PI lawyers. Who does.....Hmm
