I have recently started work from home which involves IT recruitment's.
Recently I have been asked to work sometimes on bank holidays or do overtime here and there and always got a remark as if they dont need me but still they are keeping me for some charity .
Just to quote " You are not doing enough sales but still you can do other admin stuff and since your baby is small we understand that we cant hire you on keep you on payroll , You need to be satisfied with a commission based compensation structure.
I continuously face this problem and its more due to because recently my lo has been quite sick and I had taken many offs from work .
How to deal with it .

Don't like to see posts go unanswered, but I'm not really clear what you are asking

  1. Have you gone back after maternity leave, of is this a new job?
  2. What does your contract say about working hours, and working days?
  3. Why would they pay you if they don't need you ? Confused
  4. Is it commission based, or salaried but with targets, or is the comment about not being enough sales just an off the cuff remark?
  5. How much time off work have you taken ?

Dear Backforgood
Thanks for giving my post a thought .
I work as freelancer and I hav e no written contract defining terms and conditions for work hours .
I just get payed on commission.
Its a new job I have taken after my pregnancy .
I had taken two weeks off due to my kid sickness.

You have posted several times about issues to do with your work, haven't you? I'm never quite clear what you are asking. I remember previously you seemed confused about whether you were an employee or a freelancer and I'm sure previously you talked about your contract. Is this a different role?

Anyway, if you are a freelancer and you are working on commission only, then you presumably knew that is the role you were taking on? I don't really understand your comment about working on BHs or doing overtime. The company can ask, you can say no. I'm also certain that they are not offering this work to you as a favour, as you seem to be implying. Online IT recruitment is a hard-nosed business and they absolutely will not be offering you possible paid work unless they absolutely need to.

Again, as a freelancer you can choose your hours of work, within reason. However, I can't imagine any company being happy with you taking two weeks off with your child's illness. If you are meant to be screening candidates or phoning people, it probably needs to be done within fairly tight time frames. If you are working from home though, is it not possible for you to do some of this work evenings and weekends? Or do you have a partner who can help out at times?

What do you actually want to happen here?
