retraining as a pilates teacher

has anyone pursed this as an alternative career? how difficult/intense is the training? I am a lawyer by trade but on mat leave and would love to do something which is not desk based and can build a business around it.

My pilates teacher left her City career to become a teacher. Think the training was pretty full on. She works really hard - classes & private lessons all day and into the evening.

She does seem to really love it.

Not sure if that is much help as it isn't me, but she seems happy.

One of the mums at my son's secondary school is a Zumba instructor and she seems to make a decent living out of it, she teaches a class nearly every day of the week all over our area including an aqua one.

I guess it is like anything, if the demand is there then you could build a career around it.

My friend's work has a pilates instructor who comes in to give a class once a week that the company pay for - I reckon if you could get a few companies to offer similar that would be good.

Baby friendly classes for women on mat leave would also have been useful after I had my DC. Good luck!

It takes over a year, about 1200 hours instruction/training and about £5k before you can take the exam - so a huge commitment.
