Hello
I'm a single mum and currently not working so claiming all benefits. I'm desperate to get back into work and do things properly but obviously I need to be better off financially. I have been on the tax credits calculator and put all my information in and put that I would be working 37 hours a week and that my childcare cost would be 200 a week (nursery very expensive but only option) ...and it has come back with a result that says I would get 3200 child tax credit for the next year, 6200 towards childcare for the next year and 4580 working tax credit for the next year so that totals 14,000. Surely I wouldn't get that much on top of a basic salary of 12000. Any advice would be appreciated

Thanks

Hello lovey to be honest that sounds about right, when I was on my own and working full time tax credits were pretty much more than my wages and covered my nursery fees, it was great! X
