Dunno which job to take.

Help me decide as I'm useless!

Job A. Three days a week office hours. Mainly organising training and delivering training. Can be a bit stressful and pressured about making sure the training gets done. It's in a team of one, ie; me so if noone else to bounce ideas off, etc, take any of the pressure off. Plus it's a bit boring, have been doing it for years and most of the time I'm teaching the same stuff but to different people.

Job B. Pays the same as Job A but a lot less responsibility. Plus Id get unsocial pay so would actually earn more. Downside is Id have to work nights and weekends. Upside is sometimes Id work long days so Id actually get more days off. I don't mind working weekends but hate nights. Less pressure in some ways......at the end of a shift I skip out the door and don't have to think about work. More pressured in other ways that if a mistake is made it can have serious consequences, can be very busy and stressful in that respect. But Job A sometimes involves working alongside people doing Job B so get exposed to that a bit but probably not as much as am in a team of two rather than on my own if that makes sense.

Job A is better for my career overall but after having a bit of a work life balance evaluation I'm not really sure I want to further myself career wise. Have decided Id rather stay part time and have more time to do stuff for myself.

I don't need the extra money Id get from Job B. However it's nice to have the extra money. I could certainly manage bills, food, etc from Job A but maybe it might be a bit tighter to buy a fancy pair of shoes, etc. plus part of me thinks why should I have a job with more responsibility for less money?

A little part of me worries that long term I would burn out doing job B. Physically it's hard work.

Just from reading your post, you seem more swayed towards Job B.

I think you're right. I've actually handed my notice in to go from job A to job B but my boss has asked me to reconsider. I've got a meeting with her tomorrow and I think she's going to try and convince me to stay in job A.

Just have this feeling of guilt of giving up on the career ladder, but only because I feel that I ought to be bothered about my career.

It might turn out to be a sideways move, which noone should ever automatically discount. Not every job change has to be a 'promotion' in order to progress :) good luck with your decision-making!

That's a good point Chili which Id forgotten. There would be career progression opportunities from Job B, in a slightly different direction but still progress. And easier to do part time....would still involve nights sadly. If it wasn't for night shifts it would be a no brainier! Thanks.
