Moving on after a bad employer and red flags

I'm a regular poster but have NC because I have written about issues with former employer previously.

To cut a long story short, been made redundant in the last stages of pregnancy from a new role (have worked there in total 10 months). It was a complete kosher but stinks kind of thing. I'm not that self absorbed to think it was personal or all about me but they have tried their hardest to get to a point where they wouldn't have to pay me SMP and did some other things that made it clear it suited them I was gone. The place had lots and lots of issues, it was a bad company.

So, FF quite a few months and I'm now looking to get back to work and a new role. What happened with the former employer really dented my confidence and I feel cautious and suspicious towards other employers - would they do the same? Will it be as bad as former employer? etc. etc. So, how do I get past that? Would appreciate any advice?

Also, in hindsight there were a lot of red flags in the run up to me accepting that role but I ignored them because I so wanted to move on. I am keen to keep an eye open for other red flags in coming recruitment processes, do you have any to share?

Sorry to hear of your experience.

If there were red flags before, can you work out why you ignored them? That might help you this time.

I think you need to trust your instinct will guide you. The fact you can identify red flags (even after the fact, if that was the case) shows you can see the issues.

I had a bad experience with a short period with a company (and looking back there were red flags). I tried to accept that some orgs aren't for me and vice versa and focus on the future.

And remember future employers will only know what you tell them about this role. Outwardly you can portray a short but positive experience etc.

Do you have access to somebody that be a mentor during job hunting to help give you some feedback?

Thanks Mrs. Yes, I know why I ignored the red flags and have certainly learned from it. I didn't listen to gut feeling either, I was so desperate to get a new role plus my former manager was a very good liar.

There's no one who could mentor me but I've been working through it by talking it out with friends and family. I feel a lot less bitter than I did over a year ago.
