My last day in work will be 27 March (end of term) but because of the holidays I don't start the new job until 13 April.

I'll hand in my notice tomorrow to give 1 month's notice, but not sure how to word it re my last day, as my last day employed will be 12 April, but my last day at work is 27 March IYSWIM.

I know I'm over thinking but I also know they won't pay me for the Easter hols if they can avoid it. If they do that, I'll lose my continuous service.

Ignore the holidays.

Dear boss name

Please accept this as my notice of resignation. As per my contract, the notice period is 4 weeks/one calendar month. this means my last day of employment with yourselves will be 12 April.

I would like to thank you for giving me the opportunities in this role and with the company success in the future.

Yours Faithfully

But if you have to give a month's notice and you give it tomorrow, they can't just not pay you for your notice period, whether you are at work or not

Thanks Alternative, I'm very good at copy & paste!

So, addressed to my boss, the bursar, or to the head? I think it's usual for most staff to address it to the head but the bursar likes to think she rules the world.....

I always resign 'to my manager'

Just change that 'with' in the last sentence to 'wish'.
