Hello

Bit of background, I started working for my current employer at the beginning of December and found out I was pregnant in January. I was planning on looking for a new job this year as I really dislike the work place the people are not very nice and very unhelpful but the job itself is fine I just know I could do the same job somewhere else.

Anyway, I am starting to look at options for
maternity leave (yes I can't wait to escape) and understand the earliest this can start is 11 weeks before the due date, which is fine. However, I would like to use my annual leave prior to going on Maternity Leave so this would mean I could leave much earlier than July (our holiday year runs from jan-December) and just wondered if it would be possible to do this?

Or is it unreasonable for me to request this?

Thanks in advance

It's not unreasonable for you to request it, but it's entirely up to your employer whether they allow you to take your holiday then or not. They can't deny you your holiday entitlement but you are not entitled to take it when you want so if they want you to be at work until you start mat leave they can refuse the holiday request.

I intend to return to work and look for another job after I have had the baby as I can't stay somewhere I am unhappy
