Part time worker & SSP

I'm hoping someone can advise. I work 3 days per week and earn £130/pw
I have been signed off sick and have provided Doctors notes. The 1st week I got paid nothing, the 3rd week I got 2x£87 ish, this week I have been paid £55. I have tried looking online and it seem to be the £87 is standard ssp. Is my company in the right in paying me less SSP than standard as I am part time. I've tried the online calculator and that seem to say I should be getting the higher amount.

SSP is a fixed amount of £87 per week. Have you asked them for a breakdown of what you've been paid and the reasons?

Thank you for your reply. I have emailed them today asking for a breakdown and for pay slips.

Hi nixnjj

You qualify for SSP from day 4 of your period of sickness, based on the days you are due to work. The first 3 days are unpaid "waiting days" hence why you didn't get paid anything for that first week.

You are paid SSP from the 4th working day you are off sick. aAs you work 3 days a week, your SSP works out at £29.18 per day (weekly rate is £87.55). You only get SSP for the days you were due to work. Looking at it, I think your pay is correct.

Hope that helps. Smile

Sorry - just read that back. I assumed you were back at work so that £55 doesn't sound right at all if you're not (that's only for 2 days SSP).

Are all of your fit notes up to date or have you already had several weeks SSP previously?
