What work could I do from home, with no relevant experience or qualifications?

Hi all, hoping to get a few ideas here!

I really need to try and earn a bit of extra money. I work very part time (library assistant) but due to my health I can't do more than that outside the home.

Something I could do on the computer would be ideal - I don't know, data entry or something like that? My dad used to make a bit of cash typing and proofreading things for people, which I'd love (actually I used to help him sometimes!), but I don't suppose there's much market for that sort of thing these days. I wouldn't mind doing something like copywriting but obviously you need a track record for that kind of thing.

I do have a customer service qualification but not sure if that's applicable, unless it was something telephone based, which I'd be happy with.

I'm definitely not suited to selling so stuff like Usborne is out.

Any wise suggestions please? :) Thanks

There may be some good ideas in here mixed in with the selling stuff.
I remember finding this when I was looking at making money while being at home with a newborn

I would go for childminding and cake baking . I have seen so many people go for childminding and earn extra cash at the drop of a hat

Although you'd need to qualify as a cm first.

MaybeDoctor · 09/02/2015 22:17

Babysitting?

fuzzpig · 10/02/2015 07:17

Thanks for all the replies Thanks :)

Sadly there's no way I could manage anything childcare related :( due to my health it really needs to be something that I can do sitting down (hence computery stuff)

That link was useful, a few things I'll look further into there.

Although actually the leaflet dropping thing might be worth considering assuming I could pace myself. Walking is generally ok. I could take my DCs with me too I guess?

A friend of mine said her friend has got a part time job with Argos answering the customer service line, variable hours and from home. Not sure how true it is but worth some investigating.

Writing? Textbroker and Hubpages are a good place to start.

Second hand stuff on ebay or Amazon?

These are two of the three ways I have of making money and I earn as much as my OH who works full time.

Can you drive/do you have a car? How about delivering for Home Delivery Network?

School dinner lady?
Lollipop lady?

fuzzpig · 10/02/2015 08:25

Nope no car either Blush Blush

fuzzpig- have you had a look at those writing sites?

There is a lot of demand for online copywriting, even small scale stuff: product descriptions, recipe columns, company profiles.

Hubpages is a lovely creative community which generates revenue for writers through Google ADSense. No experience required.

fuzzpig · 10/02/2015 08:38

I definitely will (have to charge my iPod now though as it's about to die) thank you! If it's something I could do without experience then that's brilliant :)

Have a look at people per hour - might be stuff you can do on there.

Otherwise, how about ironing?

ClashCityRocker · 10/02/2015 08:49

You could make glittery shit to sell on facebook? Grin

I think there are quite a few telephone based jobs you can do at home now which your customer service qualification could benefit you for.

bigbluestars · 10/02/2015 08:51

"glittery shit"

Classy.
