Hi, I recently told my employer i was pregnant as they were suspicious due to my sickness. My manager was extremely rude and unprofessional. She said i was immature for not telling them sooner and that i am untrustorthy, iv been decietful for not telling them as soon as i found out. I stated that by law i didnt have to until i was 26 weeks and she proceeded by ssaying i still should have because of risk assessments being put into place etc etc. Since she spoke to me and belittled me so much i have struggled to go to work, i cry just at the thought of going in, its unbearable. I think my doctor is going to put me on the sick and i wont be able to claim maternity allowance? Also does anyone know if i change jobs will i still be entitled to maternity allowance?

sorry she has been a complete cow to you.

You wasn't immature in making sure all was okay with your baby before telling them. You are not untrustworthy! Sounds like her nose has been put out of joint! Maybe she is jealous!?

Don't quit your job - how long have you been there for? Have you spoken to your HR department? Has anyone witnessed her being unkind to you.

Keep strong - the end is in sight!!! xxx

How long had you been in that job before you got PG and how many weeks are you now? What job do you do - is it something physical or in an environment that puts your PG at risk?

She is sooo wrong and unprofessional. Its your choice if you tell your employer or not and its only when you do (in writing) that they have a legal responsibility to conduct risk assessments.
Do not leave your job the law protects you when you are a new and expectant mother and there re things that your employer must do when informed. Your doctor can sign you off and they have to accept that if the working conditions are unbearable and cause you stress.
Read this link this tells you everything that you need to know from what an employer has to do and what an employee can expect.

How many weeks pregnant were you when you told your manager? Do you have a job where it would be important that you have RAs done/where modifications might need to be made to your work because of your pregnancy?
