Opinions wanted - return to work coaching sessions

Hi All

I'm new to joining in on the "talk" section as I usually just read through, however I am interested on getting some opinions and would be grateful if you would share your thoughts on an idea I have.

I am an HR professional and I work part time as a senior HR manager and also undertake some freelance work on an ad hoc basis (I have a 2 year old daughter).

After meeting lots of other parents at various toddler groups I am interested in looking into running training/coaching sessions (half day/full day) with small groups of parents looking to get back into work. In these we would look at CVs, methods of job searching, interview tips etc.

I believe I could help people feel more prepared and make them aware of the many different ways of finding opportunities and feeling confident for interview.

Essentially my questions are: 1. do you think people would be interested? 2. what would people be prepared to pay?

All thoughts appreciated.

I think there is a lot of opportunities for this type of service.

At Mumsnet Workfest I met the following team: wrpn.womenreturners.com/about/ they were hosting seminars.

I am not sure what they charge.

I think there would be interest. This board/MN in general often has threads about women wanting to get back into work and the challenges that brings.

I think one of the challenges for you will be providing a service for people that aren't currently working - they might have limited access to money.

The price depends on the length of the event(s). Could you sell a package of x sessions? Off the top of my head I think up to £149 sounds a reasonable sum to invest in back to work support. However, for some that wouldn't be possible.

Have a look at Women Like Us. They are a social enterprise that do what you are proposing. I think they are aimed at those from low income households etc.

Good luck!

Where you do you live? Many charities and back to work organisations offer this service for free. Your best bet is to get one of them to pay you so it's free at the point of delivery.
