Access to nursing course at 42?

Hi
I am a 42 year old mother of 2 - aged 11 and 6.
I have been a sahm for the last 12 years.
I wondered if anyone had trained to be a nurse at my age?
I would need to do an access to nursing course first.
Years ago I worked in nursing Homes so do have some care background.
I did gcses and a levels but, again, many years ago.
I also did some OU courses prior to the fees going up.
I suppose my question is - how hard is it to do the training with a family?
My kids will be 7 and 12 if I start the access course.
I know Dh would be supportive but he works away at times and obv that could cause issues.
It would also mean I would be 46/7 by the time I qualified.

Definitely not too old!
My mum did this around your age and is now loving being a nurse!
I think the access to nursing course gave her confidence for starting the degree course, as she hadn't been in education for a while beforehand.
I think it can be tough but it sounds like you have a supportive partner so go for it!

Am worried about the finance aspect, but would love to do it.

Not too old at all (i met a lady who recently started aged 54) but the placements could require you to be up to an hour away for 7am for example. Could you manage childcare for this?

If the shifts are a problem, have you considered allied health professions such as podiatry, physio, ot, radiography. Not all of those involve shifts (some do) and with many you get all the uni holidays off etc.
