Any accountants / finance managers around to give advice on career dev?

I am currently a project manager in HE but have worked in lots of different roles, including 10 years in financial services.

I want to develop my portfolio of skills towards my next promotion and have identified accounting and finance knowledge as a knowledge gap.

Can anyone advise on a course or qualification that they would recommend? Kind of like accounting & finance for non-financial managers, but at a reasonable level as I want to progress pretty far up the ladder. I have a reasonable understanding so I'm not starting from zero.

Thanks!

it looks like you've already made a decision, but thought it would be rude not to come back to you! I've found BPP really good. I switched from kaplan after the first module. Kaplan were awful - the study text and online content were just full of mistakes and I wasted so much time querying things on it. BPP much better - the odd typo but nothing that made too much difference! I finished my certificate this week. Moving onto CIMA 'real' next Smile

I hope you are feeling better lavendersun.

I haven't quite made up my mind dollybird except that I think I have discounted AAT now. They took ages to send through their brochure and there was hardly any information on the course syllabus. Now they are bombarding me with texts and emails. Confused

Can anyone tell me realistically how long it would take to complete the CIMA Certificate in Business Accounting if I was doing it by distance learning, alongside working full time and having a family (DH is a SAHD so that does take the pressure off a little).
