Job search getting me down

Hi, apologies but this is a bit of a moany thread.

I resigned my past role in accountancy when I had my DC 14 months ago. I set up my own PA business when DC was about 8 months ago and have been working on approx 10 hours a month (not much I know but it every little helps!).

I put a lot of effort in to this - I have a website and work hard however, as it is home based I miss the interaction of the office.

My issue is that I have applied for lots of part time jobs in office, mostly in business areas where I feel capable and have some experience, and yet I fail to get short listed for interviews.

I am degree educated with lots of experience in the roles I am applying for - I am desperate to get back into 'work' in the office if anything just to get out there. I go to mothers groups but I now realise I am a 'worker' and do get fed up of the full time STAH (I think I am too lazy for it!).

Has anyone else struggled to get interviews after baby? Any tips?

Sorry you are finding it hard, I am not yet applying for work but it's on the horizon and I've been at home for four years, also not cut out for SAHMing. Running your own business sounds really impressive and maybe it's putting off employers as you may be ambitious and want to move on. Have you down played this on your CV? What about tempting work? This may lead to a permanent role once they get to know you. Part time seems really in demand and some roles may be filled in house. Have you tried asking around your contacts for potential leads? Is volunteering something you could consider to get the social side while continuing the PA business? I was offered the chance to apply for a job after a voluntary role because they knew me already. Have you had your CV looked at, perhaps by an agency? I've been looking at the womenlikeus website, they run courses for getting back to work and CV writing. Fingers crossed you get something soon.
