I am really keen to start a new career but i have no idea where to even start ... I have struggled with everything my whole life and just thought i was 'a bit thick' but last year discussed it with the DR who advised me i am dyslexic although its not formally diagnosed as she said there is no real point and i cant afford it .

I have a background in beauty therapy and ws never very good at it and would love tho now start a new career but i dont know what and am worried about my dyslexia setting me up to fail once a gain

i am a very hard worker and i always go above and beyond to succeed. but everything i seem to think of has elememnts in which i would struggle

any advice out there ?

Didn't want this to go unanswered but just want to say that your Dyslexia shouldn't be a barrier to what you want to do. There must be something that you enjoy doing that you can become good at over time.

There are a few things I feel I "may" br good at ie event planning as I have been complimented on my party planning a number of times and always on a very tight budget..... Also I love to cook... But its the finer details that frighten me the paper work. Health and safety remembering all regulations, being consistent and staying organised.... I am worried I will end up biting off more than I can chew and messing up and wasting time and money that we really don't have

I think you need to get out of the mindset that you will be rubbish at everything just because you have dyslexia. Loads of successful people here with dyslexia!

Maybe see if you can research which jobs are good for people with dyslexia? DH works with quite a few developers and he says that the ones with dyslexia are the best!

my dh has dyslexia and i fill out all paperwork at home etc. he is such a hard worker too and is now getting qualifications in his trade to build his career. i think with that in mind a more practical career would be ideal - try getting a prospectus from your local adult education college and have a browse. i would have loved beauty therapy but im not naturally good at it.
