Hi, I'm thinking of running a coffee morning come crèche type thing, with tea, coffee lunch ect, in one room and a play room in the other, this would be in the local church as I know the vicar well. I plan to sell lunch very cheap, sandwiches ect. Just wanted some ideas to if any parents would be interested? Or whether I'm just crazy

I would. I liked our local playgroup which offered just tea and biscuits but a place with basic, nice lunches and breakfasts would be great. I would come....

UncrushedParsley · 26/09/2014 13:04

Not crazy. Partly depends on how many dirt-cheap playgroups/toddler groups in the area you would be competing with. People always compare prices, often unfairly. Everyone involved would need DBS checks I would think, and I don't know if insurance might be problematic.

I would have been interested in this when my kids were pre-school age. The playroom would put me off now, so if your aim is to only attract parents/carers of pre-schoolers, it would seem like an excellent idea. If you're looking to attract people from other walks of life, then you might also have to offer other things, like a bookcorner etc

Thanks TryingNotToLaugh a book corner would certainly be a good idea, MrsWinnibago I love your idea of breakfast never thought of that. Uncrushed Parsley there are at least 3 playgroup/toddler groups, but am I planning to be very cheap, it is a council estate and I would like to offer something to the less fortunate. I think all would need a DBS which if fine. Any clue about food hygiene certificates? Whether it is needed or not? Smile

Be careful OP....sounding a tad patronising there. I live on a council estate and I am certainly not "less fortunate" than anyone.

TryingNotToLaugh · 26/09/2014 13:45

Food hygiene Certs available on-line.

I think you need to review your mission statement though. Hmm

Gfplux · 26/09/2014 14:18

You will probably need insurance. Check with your friend the vicar of that is covered by the rental fee.

Jasmine95 · 26/09/2014 14:53

I'm sorry I didn't mean to offend anyone. I just couldn't find the words.
I think insurance will be included but will need to find out, thanks for the advice. And again I'm sorry if I've offended anyone

Make sure you cost it up properly...tis all well and good trying to offer it cheap, but you need to make a wage.
