Super panicking! :(

I started working for a big supermarket (rhymes with Bainsburys) 2 months ago and after panicking about every little thing for those solid two months, I've finally found my feet- i get along with everyone, even been to some parties with them. But today I had to call in sick. It's not the end of my probation period either! But when I phoned today and spoke to my manager (who I NEVER see) she said I had to have a return to work interview and to talk to any of the managers. My question is how do I get a hold of any managers if I never see them? I've been told I can't leave on my next shift without speaking to a manager. Should I just go to customer service and ask of there's any managers I could speak to? It's my first job and I'm so new that I'm not sure if that's the right thing to do?? Please help, I know it's stupid to get nervous about these things but that's just me! Blush

When you go in for the next shift, just go to customer service and ask them for the duty manager.

A return to work interview after one short period of absence seems a bit strange though but maybe someone else will know more about that.

I wouldn't worry too much about it, assuming it's a one off. In my work, it's standard practice to do a RTW interview after every absence.

That said, any absence during a probation period isn't great. Is expect the manager to set some expectations. For context, in my work place, 3 absences within a 12 month period would lead to disciplinary action. 3 absences within a probation period would probably end in dismissal.

I assume you don't expect to have ongoing absences, in which case, just explain why you were off and listen to whatever advice you're given.
