Leapfrog Day nurseries

I am considering putting my dd in a Leapfrog nursery as there is one near the college where I have just started a training course. I think they're a chain aren't they? Has anyone got any experience, good or bad, with them?
Thanks in advance for your feedback.

Hi mammya, there was a thread about Leapfrog nurseries some time ago, I'll see if I can find it...

Thanks, I knew there had been a thread already, but couldn't find it for some reason. Interesting reading!

My dd has recently started at a leapfrog nursery, having moved her from a small locally run nursery, due to a house move. At first very apprehensive about its size and 'corporateness' but dd has settled in ok and we've had no problems so far. But like anywhere, it all depends on the mix of the staff at any given time, and nurseries can have a regular turnover of staff. What did you decide to do, mammya?

DS has very recently started at Leapfrog 4 days a week and I am very happy with the staff. I phone an average of 3/4 times a day and they are always polite and helpful. They also seem to know him well already. He is a very smiley baby, so when he wasn't as smiley as usual, even though he hadn't been crying, they still told me (he's teething bless him). Also, he was very tired on Friday at lunch time so didn't eat much. They gave him a sleep and then tried again after and he ate loads. I was very pleased they put him down and then tried to feed him again. They could have just left him till his afternoon bottle.

Also, carers visit from other rooms to play with and cuddle the babies, just to have cuddles really. Apparantly DS has already made a special friend of one of the carers from the toddler room who comes in to say hi on her breaks.

I also like the idea that you can stop by at anytime and watch the CCTV. They fill in a form everyday which details everything from what your child has eaten, how many times they're nappy was changed and if it was soiled/wet, when/what they've drunk etc. Then they go through the form with you when you pick your baby up.

My friend has had her baby at the same leapfrog for 1 year and is also happy so I think it depends on the particular nursery.

Sorry Scully didn't see your message until now!
Well for now I have decided to let dd stay at the playgroup she's been going to since September as she's well settled and very happy there (she's 3 by the way). It complicates things slightly as the sessions are only 2h1/2 and I'm away for at least 4h1/2 but have manage to arrange something with the playgroup workers.
Thanks for your replies Bunnyrabbit and Scully.
