Is getting MA quite straightforward?

I'm going to apply for MA, and it seems like I tick all the right boxes to be eligible for it, but I'm a bit concerned because, well, it's a government benefit and I imagine that it might be similar to getting JSA, ie a total nightmare.

So is it relatively straightforward if you follow all the instructions, and does anyone have any tips?

It was super easy for me both times (I was also self employed and ticked all the boxes). Hope it goes smoothly for you too!

Its as easy as pie. Took about 5 minutes. I think it's more complicated if you're employed, but as long as you've paid your ni contributions that's all that seems to matter.

Really easy.
Finding out about how to inform them if kit days was harder. They insist you inform them whenever you do one but don't tell you how to!
Anyway, I did all my KITs then ceased the MA early and went back to working very part-time. All no issues.

Thank you all for your reassurance, I'm very relieved!

Hrm, I'm slightly concerned about my NI.. I was behind a few years ago after living abroad, but when I tried to pay it I just got sent one form after another until I gave up. I've been paying it fully for at least 3 years though.

What are KIT days? I Googled it but couldn't find anything.

Well, I'll give it a go next week, hopefully it'll go smoothly. Thank you!

"Keeping in touch" days. You can do ten and bill for them while still claiming MA.
