Reduction in Hours.

I have worked with my company for 3 years and currently work 30 hours per week. I have now been advised that the company are looking to make cutbacks and that they are looking to reduce my hours to around 20 per week. The alternative is probably redundancy.
Are employers allowed to just reduce part-time employee's hours in this way without some form of compensation? My contract is fairly vague and says that some degree of flexibility is required in the work and that additional hours may be needed as appropriate but does not cover a reduction in hours.
Any advice welcome.
Many thanks

Well, if you don't agree to the drop in hours, then there is a reduction in the requirement for thr work you do, which is a reason for redundancy. It sounds like they are proposing an alternative to reduce redundancies. It's up to you whether you take it.

Is this a reduction in hours, or an increase in possibility?
