Hi,
I have a complicated working life and need to get my head around how to claim MA when I have my baby in a few months. To break it down, this is how I make a living:

  • I work full time for company A
  • I am a sole trader for company B
  • I am a Director for company C

When I go on leave I will not be working for either A, B or C.
How do I go about filling in the forms to claim MA?

Thanks for helping!

Where do you pay national insurance and how much with regards to the thresholds?

It is likely that you will not be able to claim anything for your self employment, you will probably be able to claim SMP for your main job for company A and if company C is a limited company you may also be able to claim SMP for there too if you earn enough. All that is subject to reaching minimum earning thresholds and qualifying periods.

Thank you, I pay NA for company A and have a small earnings certificate for company B. Company C is a limited company so i'll look into SMP for that too. I've been with each company for over 12 each so i think that takes care of the qualifying periods!
Thanks again for the help :)
