What do you do when your nanny goes on maternity leave?

Help! My nanny (who I have had forever) is about to go on maternity leave. I can't afford to pay another nanny (I know I can claim all her SMP back, but I still have to cough up up front!) and it's proving almost impossible to find a childminder with vacancies or who I like. What has everyone else done?
Another question. I'm a teacher and when my ML went over my holiday it was tough luck. I couldn't reclaim that time as holiday. Fair enough. But my nanny is now saying that as her ML will go over her (and my summer holiday) she's entitled to be paid for part of it, full pay, even though by then she's into the lower paid part of her ML. She gets 13 weeks a year holiday ( I rarely use her during the hols, only just before the beginning of term to get things sorted in my classroom), which I think is more than fair considering that she's leagally entitled to 4 weeks. She's not planning to come back until the middle of October, but still wants the full pay foe part of the 6 weeks summer holiday. How do I stand legally? And am I stupid for feeling that she's taking the p**s?? Help and advice please anyone!!
