When's the earliest you would hand in your notice?

I'm required to give 4 weeks notice but my boss has known in leaving since April (in going to uni) and I'm planning on leaving on the 28th august . Would it be daft if I handed my notice in this week ? Kind of just want to make it official now Grin

I wouldn't. Things can change but mainly because I told my employer a year before I left to go traveling (date got pushed back 4 months) and I missed out on training (which would have only helped in that job) a pay rise and received a smaller bonus than colleagues.

Things like that wouldn't apply to me because I'm planning on staying on the session register and do the odd shift . That's such a shame though for you you'd think they would at least give you the training given you still had a year to go .

I've been on two training courses since telling my boss I'm going to uni . I must just have a good boss Grin

I've just handed my notice in (to go to Uni)but I plan to finish in august and use up annual leave until it runs out.

I can't remember quite when I resigned when I planned to go back to uni, but I do remember I had to resign twice, because they lost my original letter... Fortunately, the amount of leave I had left meant I could still go on the same date, but my official last employment date was a fortnight after I actually left.
