NHS fixed term and maternity pay

Hey. I've been offered a 9 month contract at a hospital but ideally want to try for a baby sooner rather than later. I was hoping for a permanent position so things would have been clearer. I'm just wondering what would happen if I did full pregnant during this time? What would I be entitled to?

Thank you

In terms of statutory maternity pay, if you were still employed by 15 weeks before your baby was due, and had been employed for 26 weeks by then, you'd get SMP as long as you meet the earnings requirement, which is pretty low.

In terms of NHS enhanced pay, you'd need to see their maternity policy, which is probably available online if you google. It should specify terms and conditions for enhanced maternity pay.

Thank you Flowery. These things always manage to confuse me.
