Project Managers

Are there any ex-project managers out there who are thinking of going back to work on a full or part-time basis? If so, what sort of project work have you done? There may be an opportunity in the future that we could work on.

Hi Rachy. I was a project manager for many years for a large corporation. However, although I worked on some systems implementations (SAP, JD Edwards) I am not a Project Manager in a systems sense. I was involved in finance and accounting projects which called for troubleshooting and analysis skills.

I also have some experience in retail (fmcg)distribution and dealing with most major UK retailers. Is this relevant? Have just analysed my own financial position and I need to work!

Perhaps you could email me if it is? Mumsnet will pass my address on I think.

I am currently a project manager in e-business but will leave my job in September - fed-up with working with a multinational... I am looking at becoming a doula/yoga for pregnant mum teacher but I would be available for some part time work.
If you want to e-mail me, please ask Mumsnet for my address.

Rachy · 18/03/2002 16:29

thanks both of you. I will be going over all the messages later (when dd is in bed!) and will e-mail anyone who has left a response.

Rachy, I have just been made redundant as a business analyst for a major Investment Bank. I was on the business/ops side of things (i.e. between the business and IT), although have also done Front Office projects. If I can help part time let me know

All, I am just throwing an idea around at the minute so here goes... I think that in general Mum's (and Dad's) would make very good project managers. I am creating an outlet for Facilities/move managers. Not an agency as such.. I will try and get in touch with you all via Mumsnet to tell you more about it.

Rachy, before I had a child I always thought all that "I could easily manage a small regiment since I manage a home and children etc" was Bs, but now I get the point and agree! Interested to hear more.

Azzie · 19/03/2002 10:58

Wickedwaterwitch, Rachy, I SO agree! I'm currently project managing for most of my working time (although because it's for a v. small outfit I'm still using my core skill (medical writing) also). The other week I was talking with an old friend who has 3 kids (incl. twins), and whose husband works away during the week, who bemoaned the fact that she had no skills left to offer the working world. When we went over what I do day-to-day as a project manager, she could easily do any of it - if she can organise her brood as well as she does, she's certainly got the planning, organizational and people skills needed to run a project.

Hiya all. I've asked mumsnet to pass on my e-mail address to you all. When you get it please reply and I'll get back to you. Ta

Rachy, I have done a fair bit of project management from a systems implementation (JBA and many EIS) and from a more general business consultancy / financial perspective. Would love to hear more if you are interested.
Thanks

berries · 20/03/2002 10:22

Rachy, I work for a small IT company in systems implementation & project management. Only work pt & would be interested to hear from you.

Rachy · 20/03/2002 19:37

Could you get your e-mail addresses forwarded to me? I can mail everyone separately then. Ta
