Line manager.....aaaaaargh

I have a new line manager. He works 3 days in my office & 2 in another.

I usually see him sporadically at the least. If I get a company email, LM will forward me the same one with 'FYI, action immediately', 5 minutes later. Usually the company deadline is months away.

Any work LM is asked to do is forwarded on to me to complete, at the last minute. I have occasionally copied in the Area Manager when this has been done as LM tends to pass this off as his own. I do not get paid overtime for extra hours

During budget cuts my DP offered to do some work for free. LM had him escorted out of the building, when he found out later why he was there he asked if he would still do the job. Dp, understandably, said NO.

2 weeks later LM took his partner on a tour of the building including private sections.

I had 1 day off as my child had D&V. LM sent me a scathing email & copied in the area manager. This is after he was very understanding in person.

A few weeks later LM has taken 3 weeks Emergency Leave to look after his partner's brother, Partner also has time off.

LM is very 'in there' with head office.

Please tell me Karma is a bitch, I dread going in on the day's he should be there.

LM spends most of his time visiting the local sunbed, bakery or watching crap on youtube. LM does

Continued.....does disrupt the office & could be considered a David Brent figure.

Apologies for the disjointed sentences. I'm so angry!

Keep a record of everything he does that is wrong or stressful or upsetting to you with dates and times. Print copies of emails etc. I cannot stress this enough. If you ever want to take it further a record is vital.

The other thing is he cannot stop you having time off to look after dependants, it's against the law. Check out the parental rights section on the citizens advice website.

My manager is a nasty bullying piece of crap too. But I've heard on the grapevine that he's going to lose his position pretty soon so karma will do it's work you just have to wait it out I'm afraid!

There's one in almost every business sigh. I too suffer someone who talks the talk but does not walk the wall says all the right things to the right people. Fortunately not my line manager, we're both senior managers, and I live in hope that Karma is indeed a bitch of the highest order Wink
