HELP where can i sell baby clothes

Hi everyone

I am trying to set up a business selling baby clothing with funny slogans printed on the front (see ad in small business section).

I am doing them mail order and i have tried a few craft fairs. But it seems to be mostly old people who go to craft fairs and not young parents.

Has anyone any ideas about where and how i can show people my work because the clothing is of good quality and people are liking my designs its just how to get people to see them

Any advice would be great

Thanks

Thanks, griffin!

There seem to be quite a few 'bump and baby' fairs around at the mo - I know of a couple in the north west in oct and march, and yorkshire lass linked to some. These would be perfect to get your products seen (and bought!) by the public. If you do some, let me know how it goes, as I'm still plucking up courage to give it a go!
Good Luck!

There is a bay show on at Birmingham in May 2007 and when i phoned up they wanted £1246.00 for the stall.
After i came round from fainting i decided this was a no go as too expensive

How about advertising in local NCT magazines - they don't usually charge TOO much and should be your target audience??

munz · 07/09/2006 19:58

yeah i'll give u their number as well.

griffintribe · 07/09/2006 22:10

Thanks again Munz, you have been a star.

National Childbirth Trust

samnbabes · 07/09/2006 22:26

National Childbirth Trust - when not sorting buses , run antenatal classes (as well as other campaigning/postnatal& b/f support) - most local branches have a magazine for members, which will be a mix of preggies, new mums & mums of toddlers. Try www.nctpregnancyandbabycare.com for local branch details. If you want to be posh, they have a national magazine too, but no idea of prices for that - our local one charges £53 for an annual quarter page ad.

What about school christmas fairs, you might not actually sell much at the fair itself but it is a good way to advertise and let people see your products. Hand out loads of cards/ leaflets/ brochures while people can get a good close up look at what you have to offer. Targeting primary school sales means you get parents of young children and babies too. I am lined up to do a playgroup christmas shopping night as well as a few fairs and a childminders conference.

griffintribe · 08/09/2006 16:50

what do you sell skribble

OP posts:
Skribble · 08/09/2006 21:51

I sell toys, pocket money priced stuff but I try to stay with good quality stuff that is a bit different, not tat .

I started off with sweets hand packed in handmade cellophane cones, then I used cellophane bags. It still took far to much prep time so I started selling toys at the same profit margin and a few pre-packed fancy kids lollies and other confectionery at Christmas.
