References - when you've not worked for 7 years!

Hi, I've been a SAHM for 7 years, but now youngest is going to school September I'm looking for work again but struggling with finding people to give me a reference.

The application form I'm currently filling out (9 pages!!!) has asked for 3 references. I have one from my last employer, one from my current voluntary role, but who on earth do I give for the third one? I've tried contacting other employers but these are from over 10 years ago and I've had no response.

Anyone any bright ideas?

I was advised to ask my child's teacher or as a last report, a friend or family member with a professional background who knows me.

Yes, I was in the same position last year when returning to work after a 7.5 year break. I was advised that the third referee can be a personal one, so e.g. a friend, ideally one with a professional job or someone who is well respected within the local community.

My employer only contacted the first 2 referees in any case when they offered me the job.

Yes yes to personal reference. A professional of good standing, who is not related to you, and ideally has known you for sometime (at least 2 years?)
