Great job, fits with kids etc, but bored, should Iook for a new job?

I have returned to work after 7+years at home. I have a good job in regards pay and am 5 minutes from home and the children's school. I leave at 3pm three days a week, so I should be happy, but I am BORED! It really isn't good for me to be bored, I find it can lead to all kinds of mischief

This job is not very mentally stimulating, a fair bit lower than before children, so I spend a lot of time on MN, which of course is good. But I have been thinking whether I might be better off looking for another job which would be a bit more mentally challenging. I would endeavour to find part-time/flexible hours.

There is a possibility, this job might get better in 2008/9 but that seems a long way off, and there is no guarantee of that.

Has anyone has a similar experience or can offer some advice?

TIA HunieBunie

Can't do any harm to have a flick through the job ads - but you might find yourself looking back on this job and wishing you were still there. Grass is always greener and all that.
What about something else to provide more mental stimulation - learning a language or taking up a new hobby etc ie something 'fun' for you not just work.

I agree with Sallyrosie. I gave up a job that was pretty flexible, a short walk away, good pay because I was bored. Now I'm a SAHM and faced with the prospect of finding another job in a few years time which might not be as close, won't be as good pay etc

Thanks for your replies (rather swift, are you ladies bored too). I guess you ladies are right, maybe I need to hang onto this job, rather than look for another one.

TBH, the thought of sending CV, rounds of interviews etc sned shivers down my spine, not my favourite pasttime.

So maybe I shall look at a hobby I can do from work

Thread Resurection(sp?)

Not that you ladies are THAT interested but wanted to let you know anyway that I resigned from my job last year and have applied to become a primary school teaching and am currently working at a teaching assistant in my DCs school and sooooo much happier

I now earn in a month what I could earn in a day in my previous job

HunieBuniesBack · 15/02/2007 20:51

So there isn't anyone who cares? Okay, that's fine, I guess that's the way the cookie crumbles

HunieBuniesBack · 15/02/2007 20:52

So much for my thread resurection

hi HBB

you're living proof that money can't buy you job satisfaction.

but, if you've not got much choice then earning good money is better than nuthin!

glad it's all worked out for you.
