Is there any help to be had with upfront childcare costs?

I am returning to work in a few weeks, after many years at home and am most likely having to use a nursery and after school club for childcare.

My problem is that the nursery asks for the first months fees up front, which we just don't have. Is there anyway of getting help with this? Do places like Jobcentre give interest free loans for this sort of thing?

I don't have any family members I can ask for £800 and I would never ask a friend for this sort of money, so I'm kind of stuck.

Try visit a few nurseries and speak open and honestly with them and if your getting child care cost help that can take awhile to process and usually nurseries are aware of this. There are interest free loans from dap but think they are only available to people on benefits. Or maybe at first start with using a child minder as they a little cheaper and flexible then transferring to nursery when u have the extra money

If you speak to the nursery they may let you pay the month's fees a week at a time

Thanks for your replies. I spoke to the nursery and they are very understanding that (esp these days) people don't tend to have a large chunk of money sitting around, so we will be able to sort out paying them in a way that doesn't bankrupt us Grin
