Further education tutor/assessor salary and recruitment day! Help!

I am now qualified to teach and assess in a college. I have applied for tutor positions and I have a few questions.

Firstly if it says 25k pro rata is that the same as normal jobs ie dependant on hours worked as in part time or full time? Or is it as in you don't work the school holidays so you will not get the full 25k even if you work full time hours during college term?

Secondly I have been invited to a recruitment evening and I have no idea what to expect, will it just be a talk? Or will it be an interview?

I am newly qualified and have not got any teaching experience so any tips or information would be very much appreciated Grin

I started as an 'unqualified' lecturer on 22K about 9 yrs ago. I had academic quals and lots of vocational teaching experience.

I did a PGCE (which would be DTLLS now) and my assessors award and my salary went up to 24Kish.

I then moved to a different FE college and worked there while doing my IQA (was IV) award.

About 18mnths ago I started working as an assessor for a private training company that delivers apprenticeships. I work from home, part time, on a flexi basis. My full salary would be 26K plus I get 28 days hol + bank hols.

I love my job :)

Catin - thank you for your reply Grin

When you say vocational training is that training work colleagues and inductions etc? I have done some training in admin positions and have put this on my cv.

So when you were unqualified 22k was your actual take home (minus tax) ?

I have so far completed pttls and the assessors award, and I would love to complete Dttls once I have secured a teaching position.

That sounds about right for a ft salary so would need to be prorated for termtime and part time if necessary . Not all educational roles are termtime only.

Thanks Liz - that's what I'm thinking it will be pro rata as in term time!
