I need to name my business TODAY!

Help please fellow mumsnetters!

I am opening a dog business in my town and I need a name. It won't be open for a few months still but a great advertising opportunity has arisen in the next month and I would like to take advantage of that opportunity, except my business has no name. I need to sign up for the opportunity in the next week or so and I need a name, logo, website, etc.

The business will initially be a canine hydrotherapy and fitness centre, but WHEN (!) it takes off I would like to eventually develop it into an all-round canine care facility which would also offer things like boarding and day care and have other canine wellness professionals such as trainers or groomers or massage therapists able to hire space as and when they need it.

I want a name that can encompass not only what I will offer to begin with but also that could be used later on when I expand. So nothing that refers only to water for example. I had thought of having a general kind of name and then different divisions, such as NAME Canine Hydrotherapy and Conditioning, NAME Boarding and Day Care, NAME Wellness Centre etc. But I can't come up with a good name. I want the name to portray professionalism, ethics, knowledge, expertise, caring. The best I have so far is Canine Care. My town name also starts with C so that name has good alliteration, but that is the best thing I can say about it. I don't really like it but it will do at a pinch.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Not really. I think my favourite is still Quinn's Canine Care, it rolls off the tongue easily, it's easy to remember (I think) and easy for people to pass along.

I am actually starting this business in my garage (long story but the short version is that I am in Canada and canine hydrotherapy is very rare here and when people hear dogs and lots of water they don't want to rent space to you!) so I did wonder about just calling it The Garage. But I have a pronunciation issue and don't say it the Canadian way....

Gah! I am off to the local Humane Society tomorrow, they are the ones offering me the advertising opportunity, so I will tell them my problem and see if they can help.

Thank you so much for everyone's suggestions!

Bit disappointed it's not a spa for dogs. I liked to think of them in bath robes lying on loungers with sunglasses..maybe getting their claws done..

mellicauli, I wish anyone good luck that wants to try and get a bath robe onto a dog and make it lie on a lounger!

So, I think I have a name! The general name will be Blue Dog, and then I will add on hydro centre, kennels, whatever. It works perfectly. I live in an area associated with Blue Mountain so it has a regional association, blue for the water obviously, and I volunteer at the humane society and when we have a dog that needs special handling for whatever reason we call it a blue dog. I Googled and there are a number of other Blue Dog businesses but nothing like this, and nothing terrible that I wouldn't want to be associated with (my husband suggested Paws R Us but that was the name of a puppy mill).

So, feel very happy with that and very relieved. Thank you so much everyone for your help!

Quinn's Canine Care is good.
It's simple and to the point - no doubt what your business is.
go with that - it's a lovely reminder of your dog and "says exactly what's in the tin".
perfect.

Blue Dog's a good choice as well, good idea about tying in water & colour!

Congratulations on your brand new business! Thanks

Some interesting ideas for company names here :) Some are great but you also need to consider the name of your website as well. You will want a domain name that is easy to spell, easy to type and not too long.
