Another career for a teacher

I'm a secondary school teacher (music). I quite like my job, children are excellent, politics less so which I'm sure is a familiar story.

I am 29 soon, and am itching to try something different, as I am starting to feel stuck in a rut, and like I will turn round in 10 years and still be doing this, which I don't want to be.

I cannot afford to re-train at university, as I have a young child, but have always liked the idea of corporate development/fundraising, I have looked into it before but I don't think I've got all of the right skills and certainly don't have the experience. I realise I would need to enter a new profession at a lower level, but wonder if anyone has any experience of leaving teaching and having success in a new career?

What about becoming a trainer/assessor. You see people one on one, it wouldn't cost much to retrain, you would have most of the skills already and the pay and flexibility are great. Good luck

Thanks Doctor, where would I find out about jobs like this?

I am not in England so not too sure but I imagine training companies would be a good place to start. It's a great job, I contract out so set my own hours and rates. As long as I do the visits no one cares about what hours I work or when. I was a teacher beforehand but had also run businesses so that helped.
