Best place to advertise a part-time admin role?

I have posted this question on the Going back to work board as well, as I thought the role might suit someone who is returning to work, and I was interested in where they would look if they were seeking a part-time admin job.

I work for a small organisation based in central London and I am flexible about the actual days/hours that the person would work. In return I am looking for someone who is flexible about their duties and doesn't mind popping out to buy milk and making teas and coffees for visitors as well as filing, sorting our emails and booking meetings etc.

I have previously used agencies and advertised in the Guardian for staff but I haven't found anyone suitable for admin posts by going down this route. Has anyone got any advice about the best place to advertise a part-time admin role?

Hi - have a look at Timewise recruitment, they specialise in part time jobs in London and get excellent candidates. I have filled similiar roles using them.

We have success with local press and also attract a lot of interest using Universal Jobmatch (job centre online). Though if it's a casual post you might want to advertise more casually too - card in the newsagent perhaps? Also our school secretary often emails local jobs to parents, presumably having been approached by the business. Might be worth contacting local schools to see if they can assist?

We're London-based, and also like our people to be flexible! We put our admin posts on gumtree. It costs about forty pounds. You may have to screen carefully, as we get loads of replies, but there were very good candidates who have fitted in well with our company.

I will have a look at Timewise Recruitment as I haven't tried an agency that specialises in part-time vacancies before. Newsagents windows aren't an option I'm afraid as there aren't any near our offices and without giving too much away about us it wouldn't be appropriate to advertise casually.

When I advertised in Guardian online I had over 200 applications, and it took a long time to sift through them. Sadly I got no-one from that exercise. Because of that experience I am hesitant to advertise on a Gumtree. We are a smallish organisation but we have quite a high profile.

Timewise is good as I get the impression that a fair amount of the candidates are women who are 'downsizing' job-wise.

I'd also be interested potentially, please PM me! I have a solid admin background, working across many sectors in both public and private. Looking for part time hours, preferably in London!

It seems that I aroused suspicion on the going back to work board with my post as people think I am trying to get someone for the job without paying for advertising. I was actually seeking advice about where to advertise as I have a policy of recruitment by open competition. My post has been reported so I expect that this one will be reported too. It is a genuine enquiry but never mind. And if anyone was to PM me about the job I would explain that the job has to be openly advertised and I could not give any details about it.

Do you have a page on your organisation's website where you could advertise? Then you know you'd be getting people who were genuinely interested in working for you. My own organisation does this and it at least reassures people that the vacancy is genuine, unlike a lot of those on general job boards/agency websites.

Otherwise I tend to check the Universal Jobmatch site (despite finding it utterly crap to use). But yes, I'd be tempted to use the MN jobs club (should be a link to the right).
