Play therapy

I am considering training to become a play therapist. Am a bit overwhelmed at the number of training courses available!!
I am already a qualified primary teacher. Anyone out there who has already qualified recommended a plan of action?

I was hoping you would get replies to this, as I know someone who might like to do it sometime. Disclaimer. I dont really know what a play therapist does though.

Hi, I am hoping to train as a Play Therapist. I volunteer with a local organisation called Carefree Kids as a Therapeutic Playworker so can maybe answer some questions? Best books to start are Dibs:in search of self by Virginia Axline, or Garry Landreth Play Therapy.
Am hoping to start with a certificate with IATE, but I know people who have done the Play therapy UK accredited one.

I'm a long way off being able to train for a career (am ill ATM but it's not permanent hopefully!) but this is something that appealed too. Is it necessarily a postgraduate qualification where you need to be something else already or can you go straight into say a degree in it? (I don't have a degree as became too ill to study)

I think a degree is extremely helpful, but not absolutely essential.

Do you know what area you want to work in?
My experience is through my adopted daughter and I have come across playtherapy which is an attachment based therapy and filial therapy which is a non-directive play therapy
