There is a job going at the local college in the shop, 9-3 term time only. It says it's £5.25 per hour but doesn't say if you get paid at all during hols ??

Anyone know what normally happens ??

Depends. I had one job that paid me the total and divided it into 12 installments and another that just paid me the months I worked. Ask.

I did ask the job centre but they said it didn't say in the details.

Oh well will have to just apply and see, I suppose.

I get paid for 52 wks (but work 39) - that's a cover supervisor job. (I wouldn't do it for any less though!)

Some CS jobs round here get the salary pro rata (i.e. don't get paid for all the holidays), and most teaching assistants don't get paid 52 wks.

So it does depend on the individual institution and contract. Why not phone up and ask? That's generally easier than asking at interview IMO.

I don't have the contact details for the job as it's going through the job centre.

All I have is an address to send the cv and job centre form too. Complicated way of doing things if you ask me. Have to go to the job centre to get a form to fill in to send with my cv.

Hours would be perfect thats for sure.

Depends, I get paid a (terribly) nominal retainer for my preschool job.

Btw if it's an FE college their terms may well be very different from school terms? When I worked at our local college the holidays were shorter and although most of the students had a half term break, the staff didn't, and the college stayed open.

Would that cause you a childcare problem?

It is a FE college yep, but afaik they operate the same terms as the local schools.

If it's not busy in the job centre when I go and get the form I'll try asking again about the pay.
