career advice stuck in a rut

I'm in a bit of a rut at work. Want to leave. Have a few options on board and also thinking of retraining/studying etc but seem to hit a brick wall with what/where etc I want to do/go.

I'd normally suggest a careers advisor but unsure. I do have a few faces I can talk to about this but then again where do I go for actual hard advice re what to study/do.

advice would be great please. THANKS.

What ideas have you had, and what are the brick walls?

EBearhug:-

There is potentially a networking/sales recruitment position through a friend of mine who owns her own recruitment company. I'm meeting her next week. Though not maybe lucrative it could open doors.

I would like to train as an office manager and have looked into Sage packages as lots of places prefer you to have book-keeping, payroll packages. It would not harm me shall we say.

and then I'm thinking again maybe a fresh start but I'm not sure as to what would make a living or not.

I've also just found I'm pregnant so this may slow down/stop some plans.

Congratulations!

If you're working at the moment and will get maternity pay, I'd probably stay at least for that and a bit of security, but that's me, and you're you.

Meanwhile, I'd be thinking about all the things I do at work, and outside work, and the sort of tasks I really like doing, and the ones I can't abide; plus what I am good at and what I'm not at all good at (it's probable both lists will be similar.) Then I'd think about things I find interesting and want to know more about, and where I might want to gain more knowledge/skills/qualifications, and then I might start thinking about job titles. And that sort of exercise will be useful to go through with or without a baby, for whatever you decide to do.

Ebearhug just saw this. Don't think I am pregnant now as had conflicting results. Nevermind.

Have thought what you said and came to my mums house for dinner earlier strangely she mentioned companies looking for language which used to be a strong point of mine and I studied A level French.

Off the top of my head I like:-

Organising events etc
Co-ordinating events etc
I'm a people person and like helping them
I can also sell/persuade people re legal matters (but could convert to other areas)
Precise
I like to troubleshoot and problem solve
I like to help re fashion etc and am good at research for that but also research in other areas

I don't like PowerPoint etc can't see the point of it!

I'll have another think.

Thanks so much I appreciate it!
